Porsche 918 Spyder
The Porsche company has created not just a car, but a fantastically beautiful, very fast and incredibly expensive hypercar, the appearance of which makes no sense to talk about. It speaks for itself. What is not visible is much more interesting. What’s hidden under the body of the 918 Spyder.
One of the most important areas of work for Porsche engineers was the excellent aerodynamics of the 918 Spyder. In order to avoid compromises, the Germans installed the Porsche Active Aerodynamic system on the car, which controls the position of the rear wing, which generates downforce. In addition, it controls the spoiler between the wing supports and the two air flaps in the underbody in front of the front axle. There are also dampers in the air intakes under the headlights that regulate the flow of air into the cooling system.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is driven by a power plant consisting of a 608-horsepower V8 gasoline engine and two electric motors. The total power of all engines is 887 hp. s., and the torque varies from 917 to 1280 Nm depending on the transmission ratio. When all the engines work together and at full power, their output allows the hypercar to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and to 200 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The maximum speed of the roadster is 345 km/h.
