BMW 3 Series
The new BMW 3 Series is lighter than its predecessor – depending on the configuration, the difference is up to 55 kg. At the same time, the four-door has a lower center of gravity and a 50:50 load distribution along the axles. Both the standard suspension and the optional M Sports suspension include progressive dampers. Their stiffness is constantly adjusted to the spring travel to smooth out sway caused by bumps in the road or inertia in tight corners.
In addition to the M sports suspension (the travel of which has been reduced by 10 mm), an adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers is optionally available. Also available as an option is the M Sport braking system with four-piston fixed callipers at the front. The M Sport differential is available for the BMW 330i and BMW 330d in combination with M Sports suspension or Adaptive M suspension. The variable electronic locking of the rear axle improves traction, agility, directional stability and cornering dynamics.
At launch, the new BMW 3 Series will be offered with two in-line four-cylinder turbo engine options: a 190 hp diesel. (320d) and petrol with 258 hp. (330i). There will also be a version of the BMW 320d xDrive with an all-wheel drive system. All cars are already equipped as standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission, dynamic cruise control, Start/Stop function, driving mode switch and emergency parking warning (front and rear).
