The Ferrari 296 GTB, an evolution of the Ferrari 2-seat sports coupe with a central rear engine, is a revolutionary model for the Maranello plant: it uses for the first time the new 120° V6 engine paired with a plug-in electric motor (PHEV), capable of developing power up to 830 hp. It is Ferrari’s first road car with a rear-wheel drive hybrid architecture, integrating the internal combustion engine with the rear electric motor. The two motors communicate via a TMA switch, allowing the use of both motors or just the electric setup. The electric motor increases the maximum power of the 296 GTB to 830 bhp, making the car more practical for everyday driving and providing a wonderful driving experience at full power thanks to instantaneous throttle response.
In terms of sound, the 296 GTB completely changes the rules, harmoniously combining two diametrically opposed qualities: powerful turbos and the harmonious high-frequency notes of the naturally aspirated V12. Even at low revs, there are clear V12 sounds inside the cabin, which translate into higher frequencies as the revs rise. The melody of this Ferrari model matches its characteristics, creating a feeling of unprecedented unity and marking the opening of a new page in the history of the Berlinetta from Maranello.
