Porsche Panamera

The Porsche Panamera is a five-door sports fastback of the Gran Turismo class with a front-engine layout and all-wheel or rear-wheel drive. Production and sales of the car began in 2009. The car received the name Panamera thanks to Porsche’s successful performance in the Carrera Panamericana race, which took place in the 50s of the 20th century.

The length of the 5-door car is 4970 mm, width – 1931, height – 1418; wheelbase – 2920 mm, track – 1658/1662. With these characteristics, the Panamera undoubtedly declares itself to be a luxury car. The body itself is made using a whole group of materials: various types of high-strength steel, aluminum alloys and magnesium. This made it possible to significantly increase its rigidity and significantly reduce weight.

Most of the power “cage” of the body is welded from hot-formed steel, hardened or ultra-strong. The front side members are aluminum; they are attached to steel parts with rivets through gaskets that prevent electrochemical corrosion. All attachments are made of aluminum. The radiator and door frames are cast from magnesium alloy and cannot be repaired in the event of an accident. The flat bottom and sloping roof provide the Panamera S version with a drag coefficient of 0.29. For cars with turbocharging and intercoolers in the front bumper, Cx is slightly worse – 0.3. A lift-and-slide spoiler is installed at the rear, which at a speed of 250 km/h creates an additional downforce of 650 Newtons. The curb weight of the rear-wheel drive Panamera S with manual transmission is from 1855 kg. The all-wheel drive 4S is heavier at 1,925 kg.
